Members: The Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Senegal. -
Volta Basin Authority (VBA)
Members: Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Mali, Togo. -

📌 Role of ECOWAS
Through the West Africa Water Resources Management Center (CGRE), ECOWAS supports:

the establishment of new TBOs (e.g., ABCBT and OGBFT-UFM);

the strengthening of existing TBOs (NBA, OMVS, OMVG, VBA);

the harmonization of legal and policy frameworks (Directive on Integrated Water Resources Management, Directive on Hydrogeology in West Africa);
-
transboundary cooperation, in line with international conventions (water, climate, biodiversity).
