📌 Role of ECOWAS

Through the West Africa Water Resources Management Center (CGRE), ECOWAS supports:

  • the establishment of new TBOs (e.g., ABCBT and OGBFT-UFM);

  • the strengthening of existing TBOs (NBA, OMVS, OMVG, VBA);

  • the harmonization of legal and policy frameworks (Directive on Integrated Water Resources Management, Directive on Hydrogeology in West Africa);

  • transboundary cooperation, in line with international conventions (water, climate, biodiversity).
